About Richard Appleby

I started this website in early 2005 as a means of displaying photographs I'd taken as well as providing a location to answer questions people had asked me about photography over the years.

As with most websites, it took me quite a while to actually get the whole thing designed and up and running, and of course by the time your finished, you want to change it all and start again anyway.

First off, let me say I'm not a full time professional photographer. I'm happy to sell the photos I have taken but I don't have the time to pursue photography as a career at the moment, much as I'd like to. I mainly do freelance work for Mini related magazines (such as The Mini Experience) and also sports and event photography for friends, family or anyone else who wants some shots.

During the week, I work in the computer security environment and I've also done some work on web site development and various other programming activities. This site was built from scratch by myself and all images within it have been taken by me.

My interests are wide and varied. I am a member of Hotbricks, the Modified Mini Club of South Australia and (obviously) drive a Mini. That's an old mini by the way, a 1968 Morris Mini Deluxe which I use in motorkhanas and supersprints, and also to drive to work! I am also a member of the Australian Digitial Photo of the Day web based community who often meet for "Digi-Days Out" where a group of us get together for some photography. You can see my gallery on POTD here. I also have a Flickr gallery.

I also play several sports; Basketball, Ultimate Frisbee and Touch Football. I also go the gym at least a couple of times a week and I've been known to get up early for a morning surf on the weekend.

Anyway, that's enough about me. If you like (or don't like) my photographs or have any questions, please drop me an email and I'll most certainly reply. Just follow the link to "Contact" above.
